PREHENSILE TAIL

The chameleons tail is used as a fifth limb, both for balance and holding on to branches.

In addition in some species the tail is used as part of the threat display.

The tail can be used as a guide to the general health of the chameleon. If it just hangs there and is not used or looks skinny your chameleon has problems.
